Payton has commissioned new solo or duo music from over 40 composers over the course of his career. Below is a list in alphabetical order of the composers he has worked with, and a short note about the pieces he has commissioned from them. (Note: this list does not include the composers Payton has worked with through Alarm Will Sound or New Jersey Percussion Ensemble.)
